The National Conference of Governor's Schools (NCoGS) is a national organization committed to establishing, supporting, and enriching
summer residential governor's school programs. Its members are
individuals involved in maintaining governor's school programs across
the country, including administrators, statewide coordinators, faculty
and staff members, alumni, parents, and other friends of
state-sponsored summer residential enrichment programs for gifted and
talented youth.
Governor's school programs are state-sponsored residential schools,
typically hosted at college campuses, that offer enrichment curricula
for gifted and talented adolescents. These programs typically recruit
students through local school divisions and private schools, providing
the experience either free of charge or for a reduced tuition fee.
Since governor's schools are state-sponsored programs, eligibilty
requires in-state residency. To see if your state offers a governor's
school program, select the Programs page,
which lists available programs by state. Visit each program's Web page
for residency requirements, tuition details, and application
requirements and deadlines.
If you are interested in learning more about governor's schools, review our Web site and use the Contact Us
link to ask additional questions. If you are involved in a governor's
school program, or are interested in becoming involved, we welcome you
to join NCoGS. Visit the Membership pages
for details. Membership in NCoGS includes a significant members-only
repository of documents, ideas, forums conversations, and mailing lists
-- not to mention a strong community of members -- to make your
membership meaningful.
