The first and most significant benefit of membership in the National
Conference of Governor's Schools is belonging to a group of like-minded
individuals who are involved in the same project as you. Governor's
schools are relatively uncommon across the nation, so the understanding
and appreciation of fellow governor's school laborers and devotees is
welcoming and refreshing.
More tangible benefits of membership include:
Sharing ideas and networking
with other educators and administrators of gifted students and
programs. Many of the best ideas in governor's schools have been shared
and propagated in various programs throughout the country. These
include program fundraising, alumni development, and teacher
recognition event.
Meeting with other members in our
annual meetings. Biennial conferences invite members and non-members to
collaborate, investigate, and report on best practices and theories.
Biennial retreats invite members to join the Board of Directors in a
concentrated work session, normally devoted to accomplishing a single
goal or developing a specific agenda.
Advance notification and early-bird eligibility to register for biennial Conferences and Retreats. Notices are sent by regular post, by email, and online.
Participation in NCoGS Members Section
a members-only online collaboration space. Members can post and share
documents, send email messages to other NCoGS members, and receive
regular messages about governor's schools in the news.
Eligibility to send and receive messages through the members-only email list and the general interest NCoGS email list.
Shaping the future of governor's schools and NCoGS
through opportunities for leadership, through working retreats, and
through active promotion of NCoGS and governor's schools in local,
state, and national meetings.
