History Project Print E-mail

"A history of NCoGS could be written in a few pages, but the true history of our Governor's Schools movement is the history that abides in each and every Governor's School in this country."

With these words, Lil Press and the National Conference of Governor's Schools embark on a project to compile a history of the Governor's School Movement: the development and evolution of governor's schools from their birth in North Carolina in 1963 to the present day. Lil, a founding member and board member emerita of the National Conference of Governor's Schools, is heading this effort.

Compiling a history of governor's schools requires participation. We welcome all administrators who are involved in a governor's school program, regardless of affiliation with or membership in NCoGS, to complete and submit one of two questionnaires. Questionnaire 1 should be completed by statewide coordinators who have overall responsibility over one or more programs in a state. Questionnaire 2 should be completed by program directors who have direct responsibility for the day-to-day operation of an individual governor's school. All Questionnaires should be completed and submitted by December 20, 2009.

Please join us in this project by downloading the documents, distributing them among administrators in your state, and submitting the results to this Web site.
