A profile on attorney Frank Emory, Jr., titled "'You Get Up and Get It Done'" in the Charlotte Observer mentions the North Carolina Governor's School, of which Emory is an alumnus.

So when I went to the Governor's School (a six-week program for intellectually gifted students) in 10th grade, my teachers told me: “If you don't do it right, they'll say black people can't handle this.”
